The pay run
- Gross-to-net, PAYE tax codes and National Insurance categories
- Holiday entitlement, holiday pay and statutory sick pay
- PAYE, limited company, umbrella and CIS in the same run
Signed-off hours become Friday’s payslip. Placement fees become the client’s invoice.

Gross-to-net starts from the agreed hours, rates and pay type. Payroll reads the run and clears the exceptions before it goes.
Timesheet Tommy chases the outstanding hours and writes up the exceptions before payroll opens the run. Manager Max puts the same position in the morning briefing. Someone you’ve given access approves every payment, submission and ledger posting. See the agents working inside Talisman
Approved timesheets, bookings and placements carry their agreed details into the client invoice run. Finance reads what came out, and can reverse it and build it again before a penny posts to the ledger. Multi-currency payments and invoicing are live, with each market keeping its own statutory rules.
Payroll, worker records, bank details and the finance side are permissioned by role. Every adjustment, deduction, document, payment and finance entry ties back to the run and the person it came from. That is what an auditor asks for first. See how permissions and the audit trail work
Run your finance in Talisman, or send the invoice, supplier, payment and nominal detail across to the accounts package you already have. Your finance team picks which at setup, and signs the route off before the first live run.
The approved timesheet carries its hours, units, rates and values straight into Pay & Bill. That one agreed line feeds the worker’s pay and the client’s charge. Operations, payroll and finance read the same version. Its status shows where the work has got to: open, held, in process or posted.
Gross-to-net, PAYE, National Insurance, holiday pay, statutory sick pay and HMRC real-time reporting, where they are set up. The cycle checks the worker details before submission, and covers starters, leavers, the final submission and a correction to last year. It produces a bank file ready to upload and the statutory documents.
A run you start assesses auto-enrolment and works out both contributions with the pay, then prepares a contribution file for the supported providers. Payroll follows every opt-in, opt-out, postponement and refund. Student loans and attachment of earnings orders use the same calculation, with protected earnings respected where the order requires them.
Yes. Payroll can check a pay run or payment and run it again where the process allows. A timesheet adjusted after processing needs separate approval on the pay side and the invoice side. Finance can inspect, reverse and rebuild an invoice run before it posts. A credit note keeps the correction on the record.
Bring one of each. The shift goes through the pay run, the payslip and the bank file. Both go through the client invoice and the ledger, on real Pay & Bill screens.
